Deer River Man Sentenced After Assaulting Hotel Manager, Threatening Cop

A Deer River has been sentenced in connection to an incident at a Grand Rapids hotel in August.

19-year-old Dylan Wise pleaded guilty in October to one count of Felony Second Degree Assault and one count of Felony Threats of Violence.

Wise was placed on five year’s supervised probation for each count.

As part of his probation he must serve six months in the Itasca County Jail, pay $1, 135 in fines, and have no contact with the victims or Hotel Rapids.

The charges stem from an incident at the Hotel Rapids on August 4 where Wise allegedly assaulted the hotel clerk with a knife.

Wise later threatened a Grand Rapids Officer and his family.

Co-defendant Patrick Johnson, 18, pleaded guilty earlier this month to one count of Felony Threats of Violence for his role in the incident.

Johnson allegedly made threats to physically harm the hotel manager and claimed to be in possession of a gun.

He will be sentenced on December 28.
