Knowing Your Neighbors: Longbranch Smokehouse and Grille

In this week’s knowing your neighbors, Fox 21’s Lena Takada takes us to a restaurant in Minong, Wisconsin where smoked meat is king. 

In one of the oldest buildings in the town of Minong, Wisconsin, is a family owned restaurant beloved by some locals. 

It’s a place that has a lot of draws. 

“We are known for our smoked products, home smoked, our homemade barbecue sauces,” said Longbranch employee Nicole Miller.

The building was built in 1892.

However, the current owners, Marc and Tami Johnston, started the business in 2006. 

“Just a casual country up-north kind of bar, keep it goin…” said Miller. 

Customers are attracted to not only the home cooked American food. 

“Our steaks are great, our burgers are fresh, never frozen, a lot of our products are homemade and original,” said Miller. 

But also to the fun that brings the community together.

“Just having extras- having something to do in a town like this. Makes it exciting for people to have something to go and do and have fun with it,” said Miller. 

One of the ways they have fun together is through sports. 

“We try our hardest to get as much tailgates, football is huge of course. We’re Wisconsin. We’re big football packers,” said Miller. 

And it boasts a rider friendly atmosphere

“Mark and Tammy are bikers themselves so, and packer fans!” said Miller. 

Weekends are their busiest

“Fridays is our fish fry, Saturdays is our smoked brisket, which is pretty popular,” said Miller. 

But you won’t be missing out if you go on a weekday. 

“Everyday we have a different drink special and a different daily food special which is big on us, and always remember us on Sunday football,” said Miller.
