Volunteers Get Choppin’ For Annual Thanksgiving Buffet

Volunteers at the DECC are already getting ready for the 26th annual Thanksgiving Day Buffet.

Volunteers spent the day Monday chopping vegetables, making stuffing and cooking turkeys to prepare for the gigantic feast on Thursday.

The crew is looking to serve more than 2,600 pounds of turkey, 2,200 pounds of potatoes and 6,000 dinner rolls.

“There’s a lot of math involved, because making food for 6,000 people is a lot different than making food for 12,” said Monica Hendrickson, and event organizer.

The College of St. Scholastica is behind the annual buffet, and while the DECC is the main venue, there will be locations set up in Carlton, Cloquet and Two Harbors.
