Marcus Theatres to Close Superior Movie Theatre

Marcus Theatres announced Wednesday that it’s movie theatre in Superior will close next month. 

The Superior Value Cinema is located within the Mariner Mall and will close on December 6 after evening showtimes. 

Marcus Theatres says the building lease expires this year, and the theatre underwent a “careful and thoughtful business review.”

Marcus says due to limited availability of 35mm film and low attendance, the company could not justify the investment to upgrade to digital cinema. 

All 10 employees at the Superior Value Cinema have been offered jobs at Marcus Duluth Cinema or Marcus Lakes Cinema in Hermantown.
