Teen Accidentally Shot and Killed in Itasca County

A 17-year-old male is dead after an accidental shooting in Itasca County. 

The Itasca County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call around 11:30 Sunday morning on reports of an 18-year-old male that accidentally shot his 17-year-old friend. 

Authorities arrived and found the 17-year-old dead. 

The victim was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for a death investigation. 

The 18-year-old male has been taken into custody pending possible charges. 

Due to juveniles being involved, names are being withheld at this time. 

The Itasca County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, the BCA, Leech Lake Tribal Police, Squaw Lake First Responders and Deer River Ambulance responded to the incident.
