Cause of Death Undetermined for Minnesota Woman Found Dead in Field

The cause of death for a University of Minnesota-Morris student who was found dead in a field last month has been ruled undetermined by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.

The medical examiner’s report, however, says that methamphetamine and marijuana were found in 18-year-old Laura Schwendemann’s system.

Schwendemann’s body was found on October 26 in a field in Douglas County, Minnesota.

Schwendemann was last seen alive on October 14 at the Holiday gas station on 50th Avenue in Alexandria around 9:30 p.m.

Police say Schwendemann left the gas station with a man she knew, however they do not believe she left voluntarily.

The sheriff’s office has identified and spoken to the man, who they say is a person of interest.
