Duluth Preps For First Big Snowfall

Up To 6" Expected For Duluth

So far this November our snowfall has been lackluster at best with a foot below average. But the snow is getting ready to fall and the Minnesota Department of Transportation is ready.

“Our official snow and ice season started about a month ago and we’ve been through a couple of smaller events already, so we’re pretty much ready to go,” said Perry Collins from MNDOT.

Duluth has seen less than 5″of snow this month but people are going in to this storm armed and ready with the necessary supplies.

“Anytime people hear the word snow, shovels are the first thing to go out. You should be prepared though and buy a shovel before the snow storm,” said Patty Sullivan from Marshall’s Hardware store.

For those who don’t have the chance to sit at home and wait out the snow, MNDOT has a couple of tips for driving.

“Make sure that you have good quality tires on your vehicles, give our plows plenty of time to work and don’t be in a hurry,” said Collins.
