Two Killed in Separate Crashes on Highway 6

A small northern Minnesota community is mourning the loss of two prominent community members.

On Wednesday Remer’s Mayor 76-year-old Howard Prushek was killed in an accident.

According to the State Patrol he was changing a tire on Highway 6 at milepost 61 when he was hit and killed by a van heading south.

The State Patrol also reports another crash in which 60-year-old Timothy Budrow of Bovey was the passenger in a car Wednesday that spun out on icy roads over the center line and hit another vehicle broadside on Highway 6.

Budrow had been an elementary teacher at Remer’s Northland Community School.

The driver of the car, 56-year-old Laura Figgins of Cohasset, a second grade teacher at the same school, is listed as being seriously injured.
