Man Sets Fires in Minong Building, Dies Inside

Authorities say one man died inside of a building in Minong after setting the building on fire.

The Washburn County Sheriff’s Office and the Minong Police Department responded to a call of shots being fired around 11:30 Monday night in Minong.

When authorities arrived, they heard more gunshots and saw a man with a knife breaking out windows to a building.

Two females fled from the building and told police the man was setting the building on fire.

The man ignored repeated commands to come out of the building, instead he set multiple fires inside.

The Minong Fire Department was called in to fight the fire.   Once the blaze was out, fire crews located the body of the man inside.

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Gerold Featherly.

The incident remains under investigation by the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office.
