Bluefin Bay Shooting Victim Identified

Authorities have identified the man killed in a shooting at Bluefin Bay Resort in Tofte on Wednesday.

Police say 35-year-old Marcus Lee Roberts, of Bloomington, Minnesota, was shot and killed outside of the resort.

61-year-old Kirk Bigby is being held on murder charges in connection to the shooting.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Bluefin Bay Resort on a call of shots fired just after midnight Wednesday.

When authorities arrived, they found Roberts outside of the resort, unresponsive.

Police say several people stepped outside of a holiday party being held at the resort’s restaurant.   At some point, Bigby came into physical contact with Roberts.

Authorities say Bigby then pulled out a gun and shot him.

Bigby was found in a guestroom in the resort and arrested.   Police also recovered a gun in the room.

Roberts was working for a gaming company hired by the resort for entertainment at the holiday party.

An autopsy is being conducted by the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Meanwhile, Bigby is expected to be formally charged on Friday.
