KYN: Stokkes Meat Market

Your Locally Owned Meat Market

With grocery chains around town, it can sometimes be difficult to know exactly where your meat is coming from.

For those meat lovers who want to support local businesses, Stokke’s Meat Market is the place to go.

With three full-service stores located in Hermantown and Duluth, Stokke’s Meat Market is the perfect place to buy freshly cut steaks, brats and beef sticks.

“Well you know you’re going to get great fresh brats, steaks we cut almost daily, you know, you know you’re going to get a good fresh cut steak and what’s nice about our place is we can tell if something is going to be bad, like a steak might be tough, so then we’ll just make beer sticks out of it,” store owner Shaine Stokke.

With brats called Sasquatch and Gangster, you’ll always be in for a tasty treat.

“Our number one seller is Sasquatch, that always has been for many, many years. Number two seller is gangster. Sasquatch is a pepper jack cheese, wild rice, and bacon, and the gangster is an Italian pepper jack cheese and pepperoni,” Stokke tells us.

Stokke’s even has a weekly ad, which is unusual for smaller butcher shops. They also offer lots of different options for graduations parties, and around the holidays offer gift boxes of meat.

Store owner Shain Stokke enjoys getting to know all his customers on a personal level.

Stokke says, “We get to know people on a first name basis and you know, I get involved, I go fishing and hunting. You know I see them at sporting events, yeah so I really, really get along great with my customers.”

If you’re interested in stopping into Stokke’s Meat Market, their hours are Monday-Friday 6 a.m. until 8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sunday 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
