Chief of Ashland Police Dept. to Retire; Interim Chief Named

The Chief of the Ashland Police Department is hanging up his badge after nearly 30 years.

Chief Greg BeBeau announced in November that he will be retiring January 8.

Captain Jim Gregoire, an 18-year vet of the Ashland Police Department, will take over as top cop.

Gregoire started his career with Ashland as a patrol officer, working up the ranks to Investigator, Field Training Officer and Vehicle Contacts Instructor, before becoming Captain and now Interim Chief.

“It’s an exciting time. There’s a lot of challenges that face the police department and I look forward to the opportunity that comes with the challenges and moving forward,” said Gregoire.

The selection process will start next year for BeBeau’s permanent replacement.
