Beating The Holiday Blues
Focus On Health: Destressing at the Holidays
The holidays can often be as stressful as they are joyous.
Psychologist, Dr. Cheryl Bemel, Ph.D., believes people become stressed and depressed because they set expectations for holidays that cannot be reached.
Bemel said people remember the holidays as being perfect in childhood and create a scenario in their mind that can never be fulfilled.
This causes people to crash when they eventually fail to reach that ideal holiday.
Dr. Bemel recommends setting time tables and attainable goals during the holiday season and avoiding the pit falls of comparing your holiday experience to others’ via social media.
