Deer River Man Sentenced for Threatening Hotel Manager

A Deer River has been sentenced for making violent threats in connection to an incident at a Grand Rapids hotel in August. 

18-year-old Patrick Johnson pleaded guilty last month to one count of Felony Threats of Violence. 

Johnson was placed on five years of supervised probation. 

As part of his probation he must complete 240 hours of community service, pay $1,085 in fines , and have no contact with the victim of Hotel Rapids. 

The charges stem from an incident at the Rapids Hotel on August 4 where Johnson allegedly made threats to physically harm the hotel manager and claimed to be in possession of a gun.

Co-defendant Dylan Wise was sentenced in November to five year’s of supervised probation on charges of Felony Second Degree Assault and Felony Threats of Violence. 

Wise allegedly assaulted the hotel clerk at Rapids hotel with a knife. 

He later threatened a Grand Rapids Officer and his family.
