Reinert Won’t Seek Re-Election in 2016
Senator Roger Reinert announced Sunday morning that he will not be seeking re-election in 2016.
Reinert released a statement saying that 2016 is the right time for the next chapter of his life.
“2015 was amazing. I finished my first year of law school, was promoted to Lt. Commander in the Navy, and most importantly- got married,” said Reinert.
Reinert has represented Duluth in different offices for more than a decade.
He started his political career in 2004 as a member of the Duluth City Council, serving twice as Council President. Reinert served one term in the Minnesota House of Representatives and is finishing up his second term in the Minnesota Senate.
During his time in the Senate, Reinert has served on the Taxes, Transportation and Public Safety, and Commerce Committees. He also served on the Higher Education Committee in the Minnesota House.
As his final legislative session approaches, Reinert says he will be pushing for the passage of a comprehensive transportation funding package as well as a fair and balanced tax bill. He also plans to work hard on a variety of Duluth-area bonding project proposals.
