One Dead in Hibbing Crash

An 82-year-old Hibbing man was killed after his car was broadsided by a semi Tuesday morning. 

The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash around 9 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Highway 169 and Highway 73 in Hibbing. 

They say 82-year-old George Nelson was traveling Westbound on Highway 169 and attempted to make a left turn onto Highway 73 when he was broadsided by an eastbound semi. 

Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the semi, 32-year-old Nathan Jaus, of Chisholm, was not injured.
