The Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon is Coming Up

The Race Draws People from Other States

In just a few weeks mushers with up to 14 dogs a team will be competing in the longest sled dog race in the lower 48 states.  It’s a race that draws people from other states, and even countries.

Duluth doesn’t have much snow this year, so organizers say the marathon will start in Two Harbors like it did last year.

A change to the course was also added this year.

It makes the whole course 383 miles, which is a little shorter than the standard course.  Starting times have also changed, and the race will be starting at 11 am.

This will be the 32nd running of the race. There were a few years previously where the race was cancelled due to not having enough snow, but it’s looking like there is no need to worry about it this year

The race is on January 31st, and they are still looking for volunteers to help with the event.
