DTA Breaks Ridership Records on New Years Eve and Day

The Duluth Transit Authority says that ridership on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day were at all-time highs since the inception of the free ride service in 2011. 

Free rides were provided to 2,104 passengers, compared to 2,004 passengers in 2014 and 1,758 in 2013. 

The DTA offered free rides on New Year’s Eve from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.  

This is the fifth year the DTA has offered free rides. 

The service is provided as a partnership between the DTA, Miller Lite and Red Rock Radio.  

The Miller Lite Free Rides program was started in 1987 , and has provided more than 5 million people with a free ride home.  

The program was offered in 11 cities across the country, including the Twin Cities market.
