GoFundMe Campaign Launched for Ashland Murder Victim

Family and friends of a young woman murdered in Ashland on Christmas Eve have launched a GoFundMe campaign to return the woman’s body to her family in the Philippines.

23-year-old Zhara Parent and her mother-in-law Patricia Parent were murdered in what police say was a double murder-suicide on Christmas Eve.  Police say 53-year-old Daniel Parent shot the two women before turning the gun on himself.

The GoFundMe campaign is seeking to raise $10,000.   Of that money, $5,100 would be used for Zhara’s flight and transportation back to the Philippines.  In addition, the family is asking for $3,000 to cover funeral expenses for Daniel.

The site describes Zhara as a “beautiful person full of love, joy and laughter. She loved children, was generous, and enjoyed caring for others.  Always smiling and happy, she was an easy person to love.  She is very missed.”

The GoFundMe fundraiser, created Sunday, has already raised $3,556.
