Wisconsin Committee OKs Hunter Blaze Pink Bill

A legislative committee has signed off on a bill that would allow gun deer hunters to wear fluorescent pink rather than their traditional blaze orange.

The Senate’s agriculture committee approved the bill on a 5-2 vote Wednesday.

The vote clears the way for a full vote on the Senate floor.

The Assembly passed the bill in November

Under current Wisconsin law, at least half of each article of clothing that deer hunters wear above the waist must be blaze orange.  The bipartisan bill would allow hunters to wear bright pink as well.

Supporters say the bill would help draw more women into hunting.

Some women hunters contend, however, that the bill is sexist.
