Last Laker of Season Sails Into Twin Ports

2015 Shipping Season Ends

The 2015 shipping season has come to a close in the Twin Ports.

Monday the Paul R. Tregurtha became the last laker to sail into the harbor for the shipping season on the Great Lakes.

The thousand-footer sailed in under the Aerial Lift Bridge shortly before 9:30 in the morning.

It will spend the winter docked at Midwest Energy Resources Company.

In total seven Great Lakes Freighters will be wintering in the Twin Ports this year.

The 2016 shipping season is expected to kick off when the Soo Locks reopen March 25th.
