Three Injured in Washburn Snowmobile Accident

Three people were taken to the hospital following an accident involving multiple snowmobiles in the Township of Washburn Saturday. 

The Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at the intersection of Forest Road 251 and Forest Road 693 around 2:30 Saturday afternoon. 

Police say a snowmobile was stopped at the intersection when it was rear-ended by another snowmobile.  That snowmobile was then hit by a third snowmobile. 

All three drivers were injured in the crash.

One victim was taken to Essentia Health-St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance, another was airlifted. 

The third was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Ashland. 

All three have since been treated and released.  

The Wisconsin DNR is investigating the incident.
