Suspect in Sawyer County Fatal Shooting Pleads Not Guilty

A Hayward man has pleaded not guilty to fatally shooting his sister’s boyfriend on the LCO Reservation in November. 

23-year-old Lorne Young was charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide in connection to the shooting. 

Young is accused of shooting his sister’s boyfriend and killing him following an argument between the man and his sister. 

The incident happened on Gunn Lake Road in the Township or Hayward on the morning of November 25. 

Police say the victim, 22-year-old Kyle Ross, died on scene from an apparent gunshot wound. 

Minutes after the shooting, Young turned himself in to the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office. 

A trial date has been set for April 19.

Young is being held in the Sawyer County Jail on $1 million bail.
