Free Tax Preparation Begins at Community Action Duluth
Free Tax Preps for Low and Middle Incomes
For households with low or medium income, tax season can be an expensive and draining time of year.
For the past twelve years, Community Action Duluth has offered free tax services for households with income up to $54,000.
Their doors open at 4:30 on Mondays and Tuesdays at their main office on 2424 W. 5th Street in Duluth, and they take walk-ins only; appointments are not needed.
“This way we know that we’re making the absolute most of the space that we have, our volunteers’ time, the investment in our training, and we serve as many people as we can,” said Tax Site Program Coordinator Julia Cheng.
Cheng says being prepared for your visit is the key to a quick process.
“Make sure you have all your documents,” she said. “Because, if you don’t we can’t finish your return , it means another trip in.”
Last year, Community Action Duluth processed nearly two thousand tax returns, both in person and on the web.
And this year they have 94 volunteers helping with that effort.
