Man Arrested in Wrenshall Burglary

A 28-year-old Cloquet man was arrested Wednesday morning in connection to a burglary in Wrenshall.

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of an intruder inside of a home just before 5 Wednesday morning.

The homeowner told dispatchers that they could hear someone moving in their house, and indicated that he had a gun and was in the bedroom with his girlfriend.

The man told police the two had locked themselves in the bedroom and that nobody else should be in their home.

When police arrived, they found a door to the breezeway forced open.

Police announced their presence and heard the suspect yell “I give up! I’m on the ground in here.”

Authorities located and arrested the man.

He is currently being held in the Carlton County Jail pending formal charges of burglary, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and theft.

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fond du Lac Police Department and Cloquet Police Department.
