Two Arrested after Vehicle Chase, Striking Squad Car in Carlton County

Two people were arrested Monday night following a vehicle pursuit in Carlton County.

According to the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, a 33-year-old man from Duluth and a 21-year-old man from Superior are being held at the Carlton County Jail pending charges.

Around 5:30 Monday night, Carlton County dispatchers received a call regarding an adult female that had a felony warrant out for her arrest and may be heading to a home in Barnum.

While investigating that incident, police encountered a black SAAB believed to have been involved in the case, and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The driver refused to stop and a chase ensued.  Police attempted a PIT maneuver, however the suspect’s car spun out and struck the deputy’s squad car.

The car continued on, and a passerby reported it was stopped on the side of I-35, unoccupied.

Multiple law enforcement agencies searched for the two suspects.

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and Minnesota DNR K-9 tracked down the duo and they were arrested.

The black SAAB involved in the incident was reported as stolen to the Superior Police Department Monday morning.
