Work on Aerial Life Bridge to Begin Feb. 1
Traffic on the Aerial Lift Bridge will be restricted to one-lane, two way traffic starting on February 1 as crews work to replace the wire ropes that raise and lower the bridge.
The City of Duluth has contracted with Lakehead Constructors for the project.
Crews will work on the bridge Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through the end of February.
Traffic signals be placed at each end of the bridge to keep traffic flowing through the single lane. The lane closure will shift between each side of the bridge and traffic control signs and barricades will be in place to alert drivers.
There may periodic closures of 15 minutes or less when materials need to be lifted over the roadway or loaded in and out of the project area.
