Former Polk County Corrections Officer Sentenced to 30 years for Sexually Assaulting Inmates

A former Polk County, Wisconsin Corrections Officer was sentenced to 30 years behind bars for sexually assaulting at least five inmates.

49-year-old Darryl Christensen, of Amery, Wisconsin, pleaded guilty in November to five counts of second degree sexual assault by a corrections officer.

According to the criminal complaint, Christensen would take the inmates to an area not monitored by video surveillance and initiate sexual contact, or intercourse with them.

The incidents happened between 2011 and 2014 while the women were incarcerated at the Polk County Jail.

Christensen was a jailer for nearly 20 years.

He resigned his position after the sexual assault allegations came to light in October of 2014.

On Monday, a judge sentenced Christensen to 30 years behind bars, and 30 years of extended supervision on each of the five counts.
