Chipotle Temporarily Closed Monday for Food Safety Meeting

The Duluth Chipotle restaurant is one of 2,000 locations temporarily shut down during lunch Monday for a company-wide food safety meeting.

The stores will open at 3 p.m. instead of the typical opening at 11 a.m.

Sales have tanked at Chipotle restaurants nationwide following an E-Coli outbreak that came to light at the end of October.

The problem worsened after a norovirus outbreak in Boston in early December that left dozens sick.

To make up for being closed for a few hours, Chipotle is offering a “raincheck” to customers in the form of a free burrito.

Customers can text “raincheck” to 888-222 to get a free burrito.
