Tree Clearing Project to start on Highway 169

Crews from the Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin removing trees this week along Highway 169. 

The project will happen between Six Mile Lake Road and Bradach Road, west of Ely. 

Most of the work will take place off of the highway, however they may be occasions when equipment parked along the highway could require a lane closure and flagging operations. 

The tree clearing is in preparation for the Highway 1/169 Eagles Nest lake Area Project that is expected to begin this fall. 

The project will provide motorists with improved sight lines, improved passing opportunities, safer pull-off areas and improved drainage.
