Camp Bong: Overnight Camp to Educate Youth

Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center

The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Society has held day camps for youth in the past, but coming up they’re hosting the first ever Camp Bong.

Camp Bong will be a one-night, overnight camp to educate youth.

It’s put on with the help UW-Superior.

Executive Director of the Bong Historical Center, Rob Furhman, says the campers will get to know the center better and spend time with local veterans.

The children will learn flag etiquette, try on uniforms, participate in a scavenger hunt and kids will even get to access the P-38.

Ryan Matara, Director of Continuing Education at UW-Superior, says the program is excited for this education opportunity.

The camp will be Friday, February 19 at 5:30 p.m. to Saturday, February 20 at 8:30 a.m.

All children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

The camp is all open to all students in grades 3 – 8.

It’ll cost $30 for child and adult.

Registration for the camp can be found at, you can also call (715) 394-8191.

The historical center is located at:

305 Harbor View Parkway
