Cars Prohibited on Leech Lake for Eel Pout Festival

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is prohibiting vehicles from parking on Leech Lake during the upcoming Eel Pout Festival due to ice conditions.

The festival is expected to draw in a large crowd and police are concerned about the large volume of traffic on the lake.

Leech Lake Walker Bay area vehicle traffic will be restricted to snowmobiles and Class 1 and 2 ATVs only.

No other motorized vehicle traffic will be allowed from February 19 at noon to February 21 at 10 a.m.

All vehicles must be removed from the ice by noon on February 19.

Violators will be issued citations and towed from the lake during that period.
