Bremel Stars On The Slopes And At School

Bremel came in fifth in alpine skiing at the Minnesota state meet

Skiing runs in Mckenzie Bremel’s family.

“My dad is the assistant coach for the high school team so he kind of got me into racing. He raced in high school when he was younger, so he got me in to it,” Bremel said.

Those years of practice paid off when Bremel came in fifth at the Minnesota state meet. Bremel had her family there to support her, something she appreciates greatly.

“It’s expensive and its cold and it’s a lot of time but my parents are really supportive and really great so,” said Bremel.

The state meet closed Bremel’s high school career.

“I kind of forgot about it but then right before my second run. I was riding up with my friends and I was like oh my gosh this is my last high school run ever,” said Bremel.

Bremel has other things going for her besides skiing. Despite her busy schedule, she maintains a 4.0 GPA.

“I mean it’s hard because we miss a lot of school. I think this is the first week of school in a month I’ve gone to all four days and that’s like a record, I’ve had three days of school the last couple weeks,” said Bremel.

Bremel is unsure what her future will hold after high school. She does know she wants to continue skiing.
