Duluth Burglary Suspect Arrested

A 22-year-old man has been charged after allegedly breaking into a Duluth gas station and stealing cigarettes and lottery tickets.

Duluth Police responded to reports of an alarm at the Cenex Gas Station located in the 1300 block of East 9th Street just after midnight on February 9.

When police arrived, they found the front door shattered and a tire iron on the floor. Multiple rolls of lottery tickets and cartons of cigarettes were taken.  The suspect fled the scene.

Two days later, on February 11, police responded to reports of a car that had run into a snowbank on South Blackman Avenue.

Police were searching for the car after the owner reported it was taken without permission.

While searching the vehicle, police located Minnesota State Lottery scratch-off tickets and a hypodermic needle with heroin in it.

22-year-old Quinn Charles Kassing-Scheer, of Duluth, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of heroin and possession of stolen lottery tickets.

Kassing-Scheer admitted to police to taking part in the burglary.

He was taken to jail and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary while possessing burglary tools.
