Voters Say No to Hayward School District Referendum
Sawyer County Residents Vote Against School District Referendum
Sawyer County residents have voted down a referendum by the Hayward School District.
The vote went as follows:
1,267 – No
The Hayward School District was asking voters to approve $2.97 million above the state mandated operating revenue limit starting next school year and continuing into future years.
The funds would have been used to keep teachers and programs around.
The referendum also asked voters to approve another $1.4 million above the revenue limit for each school year from 2018 through 2022 for building repairs and maintenance.
The school district is $300,000 in debt this year.
