HS Hockey: Mirage Looking Forward to State Semifinals
Proctor-Hermantown Will Face Blake
In two previous trips to the Girls Class A State Hockey Tournament, Proctor-Hermantown was 0–2 at the Xcel Energy Center. The Mirage will get at least two more skates at the home of the Minnesota Wild after Proctor-Hermantown beat New Prague Wednesday.
The Mirage had to come from behind but won for the first time at ‘The X’ and move on to the semifinals where Proctor-Hermantown faces off against top seed Blake.
Coach Glen Gilderman’s team has been playing great defensively of late, which started When the Mirage faced Blake in the regular season.
“They proved to themselves at that time they could do this,” said Gilderman. “Losing to them, 1–0 at that time, that was a victory for us.”
Mirage players are also looking forward to the semis.
“Whenever I’m asked who my favorite team to play against is, I always give the same answer, and that’s Blake, said Mirage senior captain Sophie McGovern. “Now we have our chance to play Blake again, and i get to play against them.”
McGovern missed that December meeting, a 1–0 Mirage loss. Friday’s semifinal is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. face-off.
