Gabby Giffords Targets Minnesota for Gun Control Push

Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords is bringing her efforts to boost gun control to Minnesota.

Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, have focused on reducing gun violence since Giffords was gravely injured by a gunman at a public event in 2011.  Six people died and 12 others were injured in the attack.

The duo is scheduled to make several visits in Minnesota on Thursday as they launch a state focused effort dubbed “Minnesota Coalition for Common Sense.”

Spokesman Mark Prentice said Wednesday they’ll focus on expanding background checks and bolstering the state’s reporting to the federal government.

Giffords’ group launched similar efforts earlier in New Hampshire and Oregon.
