Bruce Plante Discusses Hermantown Future

Coach Won State Title in 27th Year Behind Hawks' Bench

Once the Hermantown ended its streak of State Championship losses, the question was inevitable.  No, not whether or not Hermantown will move up to Class AA, but whether or not Hermantown Head Coach Bruce Plante would make like Peyton Manning and retire a winner.

Plante just finished his 27th season at Hermantown.  He’s won 518 games, two State titles, and has been to State 13 times.

However, the 67 year old Plante isn’t one to make a hasty decision, but says he will think about hanging up the whistle.

“I’ve thought about it both ways,” said Plante.  “I’m sure the juniors won’t want me to quit.  They already told me in the locker room, when I gave them a hug, they want to, what’s it called when you repeat? Repeat.”
