Two Dead in First Motorcycle Crash of the Year in MN

Two people are dead after the first motorcycle crash of the year in Minnesota.

The crash happened on Monday in Fridley, making this the second earliest motorcycle fatality on record in the state.

The rider and passenger were both killed when the motorcycle went through a red light and hit a minivan.

Riders are hitting the roads to take advantage of the early spring weather.  Public safety officials are urging riders to be aware of spring hazards and drivers to share the road.

Last year, the first motorcycle fatality happened on March 15.  There were 61 motorcycle fatalities in 2015, up from 44 in 2014.
