Eskomos Counting on State Experience

Esko Heads in to Fourth Straight AA Basketball Tournament

Winter prep sports are winding down.  In fact, only Boys and Girls Basketball are left to play State Tournaments in Minnesota.  This week, the boys hit the floor at Williams Arena and the Target Center.

In Class AA, the Esko Eskomos are making a fourth straight trip to the tournament.
A number of this year’s Eskomos were on last year’s squad that got bumped in the quarterfinals.  Plus, senior Jaxson Turner played a significant role on the 2014 team that won it all.

According to Turner, the lessons passed on by the 2014 team’s leaders helps him lead this year’s team.

“That experience, from guys like Kory (Deadrick) and Mark (Peterson) and them telling me you can’t do this, we’ve got to stay focused,” said Turner.  “These three days wee have to stay focused on basketball, and other stuff, let that stuff go.”  “Their experience, passing it down to us, will help us at the State Tournament,” added senior Trenton Menor.  “It’s our first time together as a young team down at the state tournament, the atmosphere is something we might not be used to.”

Esko faces Annandale Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Williams Arena.
