House Democrats Announce Legislation to Aid Veterans

Several Minnesota House democrats are proposing legislation to provide addition support for veterans.

State Representative Debra Hilstrom (DFL-Brooklyn Center) and several House DFL legislators will introduce the bill later this week.

Hilstrom says with Minnesota experiencing a $900 million surplus, that veterans should be a priority this session.

The bill will support veterans with the following:

-Increased access to mental health services and substance abuse counseling for veterans

-Financial relief while transitioning to a veteran home

-Expanding health coverage for veterans and guardsmen

-Reducing domestic violence

-Ending veteran homelessness and honoring those who have served

-Increases support for veterans who have struggled to reintegrate
