Authorities Recover Body of Man who Jumped off Bong Bridge

The body of a man who jumped off the Bong Bridge was recovered Monday.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and Duluth Police responded to the call Thursday afternoon of a man threatening to jump from the bridge.  The 32-year-old man jumped before law enforcement arrived.

A search for his body was called off Thursday due to weather and water conditions on the St. Louis River.

The search resumed Monday morning.  Authorities located his body using sonars and an underwater diver.

His body was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Anoka for an autopsy.
