Minnesota State Trooper Rescues Injured Eagle

A Minnesota State Trooper went above and beyond the call of duty after rescuing a bald eagle over the weekend.

The trooper came across the injured eagle Sunday at Interstate 94 and Pilot Knob Road in Eagan.

The bird was hit by a car and had made its way to the shoulder by the time police arrived.

The trooper used his coat to cover and pick up the injured eagle, before placing it in the back seat of his squad.

The eagle was taken to the University of Minnesota Raptor Center.

X-rays determined the bird had no broken bones, but did suffer internal injuries.

Officials are optimistic that the eagle will make a full recovery.
