Kids Celebrate Tomato Man

Kindergarten students from Congdon Park Elementary and high school students from Duluth East, got  to garden Thursday.

Duluth East High School welcomed the kindergarteners to their greenhouse for the annual Tomato Man Project.

The project advocates hands on learning and provides each elementary student a tomato plant. High schoolers were on hand to help the younger students set up planters and answering questions regarding garden care.

A goal of the event is to bring together  students and Duluth East High School biology teacher John Rudolph.

“It’s brings them back down to everything you learn, you learned in kindergarten. aside from the plant tips, the kids also were able to watch a presentation about gardening,” Rudolph said.
