Body Found in Lake of the Woods is that of Missing Boater

A body found Tuesday night on Lake of the Woods is that of a boater missing since last October.

The Ontario Provincial Police identified the body as 28-year-old Keith Ayers, of Baudette, Minnesota.  Police recovered his body on the shoreline of Powder Island, in the Canadian waters of Lake of the Woods around 6 p.m. Monday night.

Ayers and two other men, Justin Haugtvedt and Cody Ostendorf, went missing in October after their boat capsized on Lake of the Woods. The bodies of Haugtvedt and Ostendorf were found shortly after.  The three men were last seen leaving Sunset Lodge on Oak Island late on October 2.

Their 16-foot boat was found capsized near Flag Island the next day.

An autopsy for Ayers is scheduled for April 23.
