Train Derails in Superior

No product Released From Three Toppled Rail Cars

Late Monday night a train derailed in Superior.

The Superior Fire Department was call to 510 54th Avenue East for a train derailment and possible release around 10:25 p.m.

Two Engine Companies, HazMat, and a Battalion Chief responded to the scene.

Upon arrival three rail cars were observed on their side.

It was reported and determined that two of the cars contained Hexene and the third car contained lumber.

Crews made entry into the area to assess the damage to the rail cars.

Crews were able to determine that the cars were secure and no product was released.

Union Pacific’s Hazardous Material Manager was notified and responded.

The Wisconsin State Duty Office and the DNR were also notified and given full details of the situation.

There were no injuries reported.

Residents in the immediate area were notified.
