Art And Feminism At UMD

Students Contribute to Public Knowledge

On another part of campus, UMD students were looking to make a difference with a different kind of project

This class had the final assignment of updating and adding information about Latino female artists. Class members spread their researched content throughout the web on sites like Wikipedia.

“Hopefully we will make these artists and their work more accessible to a much wider public and population and bringing a sense of visibility to these artists, who were very difficult to find.”

One goal of the assignment was to confront the imbalance of available information when it comes to male and female artists.
