Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in St. Paul

A fatal officer-involved shooting is under investigation in St. Paul.

Police were called to a neighborhood north of downtown around 3:30 a.m. Monday on reports of a man with a gun. Officers found a man matching the suspect’s description walking with a woman.

Police spokesman Mike Ernster says officers confronted the man and fired a number of gunshots.  Ernster did not specifically say what caused the officers to fire their weapons.

Ernster says the man died at the scene.  The woman was injured and taken to Regions Hospital.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
