Marengo Town Supervisor Found Dead in Marengo River

Man and Truck Found Wednesday Morning

The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office has declared a Marengo man dead after finding him in his pickup truck in the Marengo River.

Wednesday, July 14 at approximately 6:24 a.m., the Ashland County Communications Center received a 911 telephone call reporting a deceased man in a pickup truck in the floodwaters of the Marengo River on Riemer Road in the Township of White River.

Ashland County Sheriff’s Deputies, volunteers from the Marengo Fire Department, the Ashland County Coroner, and Ashland Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene.

The truck was located in the water south of the bridge over the Marengo River approximately twelve feet east of the roadway.

The man was confirmed to be deceased and was identified as Elmer M. Lippo, 82, of Marengo.

Lippo was an elected Supervisor for the Town of Marengo.

The incident remains under investigation by the Ashland County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Offices.

Funeral arrangements are pending through the Frost Home for Funerals.
