3-year-old Falls into Septic Tank in Two Harbors

Sunday night the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Officer was called to assist in a scary situation.

At 7:20 p.m. authorities say a 3-year-old child fell into a septic tank in Two Harbors.

Officials say the child was later removed from the tank and found unresponsive.

The child was transported by life flight to a hospital in Duluth.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office and ambulance services, the Clifton Fire Department, along with the St. Louis County Rescue Squad also helped in the rescue.

UPDATE:

This tragic incident has been determined to be accidental in nature.

The victim, Mick Johnston is currently listed in critical condition at Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Offices urges parents to keep children away from access locations to septic tanks, and to inspect your septic tanks to insure that entry points are properly secured.

UPDATE 7/19:

Sadly, Mick Johnston passed away last night, July 18, at the Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. The exact cause of death is unknown at this time, but is believed to be from compilations caused by this incident.
